About Joy

Joy was bred at FAREWELLHILL from Lacey, whose heritage includes respected Beauvest bloodlines, and Weasley, Pangatta Ron Weasley, from Pangatta Kennels in South Australia.

Joy is the daughter of a blue Australian Cattle Dog mother and a red father. She has a beautifully marked blue coat, a distinctive double mask and rich tan points. Joy is within the breed’s standard height range and has a lovely solid build, earning her the affectionate title of the chunkiest FAREWELLHILL girl.

Joy’s sister is Skip, and Tammy is her daughter. They have all become important members of the FAREWELLHILL family and breeding program.

Show Achievements

Joy has enjoyed success at Tasmanian championship shows conducted under Dogs Australia regulations.

Her achievements include:

  • Best of Breed
  • Numerous Challenge awards
  • Best Intermediate In Group awards
  • Best State Bred Cattle Dog award
  • Best State Bred In Group award

Joy is particularly comfortable around other dogs. Her sociable and friendly nature helps her remain relaxed and confident in the show environment.

Joy’s Personality

Joy is full of life, loves being involved in everything and is completely obsessed with balls.

She also enjoys playing with her bungee toy, but her greatest passion is water. Fearless and enthusiastic, Joy will launch herself into the dam after her toys without hesitation, she could almost be part otter.

Her playful, energetic personality and love of activity make her a wonderfully entertaining member of the FAREWELLHILL family.

Joy as a Mother

Joy has raised one litter to date, a litter of seven puppies sired by Moe. Her daughter Tammy was retained at FAREWELLHILL and represents the next generation of Alison’s breeding program.

Joy’s puppies displayed a mixture of facial markings and clear faces. They now live with families around Australia.

The puppies have gone on to varied lives and roles, including farm work, assistance-dog work and life as much-loved family companions.

Further litters are planned for Joy in the future as part of FAREWELLHILL’s carefully considered breeding program.
