Our History

The FAREWELLHILL story began with Alison’s lifelong love of Australian Cattle Dogs and has grown through many years of companionship, experience and a deep respect for the breed.

Where It All Began

Alison’s love for Australian Cattle Dogs began in 1992 with her first registered blue heeler, Rose. Bred from the respected Australian bloodlines of Adelphi, Lanbart and Jabaluka, Rose introduced Alison to the intelligence, loyalty and unmistakable character of the breed. Growing up alongside Alison’s young children, Rose embraced life on the property, joining the family on firewood-collecting trips, herding cattle and playing in the snow.

Rose was followed by Indi, a registered blue heeler with Tallawong bloodlines from Tangarlee Kennels in Tasmania. Raised among the children and cattle, Indi became a much-loved family companion. She was a wonderful example of the Australian Cattle Dog’s versatility, equally at home working on the property or simply enjoying time with the family.

The Beginnings of FAREWELLHILL

After many happy years with the breed, Alison decided to take the next step and establish her own breeding program.

Two puppies, Lacey and Maya, joined the family from the late Judy Thomas of the renowned Beauvest Kennels in Victoria. These girls became an important part of the beginnings of FAREWELLHILL.

The Next Generation

In 2023, Lacey and Maya produced their first litters with dogs from Tablerock & Pangatta lines, marking an exciting new chapter for FAREWELLHILL. Lacey's puppies from that litter, Skip and Joy have became important members of Alison’s growing family.

Jagger, Champion Jumpin Jack Flash AI, was later selected as a red stud dog, followed by Moe, Champion Beauvest Metallic Cool Cat, who became FAREWELLHILL’s foundation stud.

Success in the Show Ring

Moe was a particularly special addition to FAREWELLHILL. When Alison first saw a photo of his sire, Ace, on the breeder’s Facebook page, she knew she would love to have one of his puppies. A show champion himself, Ace has passed on many of his outstanding qualities to Moe, along with his gorgeous good looks.

Moe has since enjoyed success in the show ring, earning his Australian Champion Title while still a Junior at the 2024 Royal Hobart Show.

Skip also began her showing career and went on to achieve her Australian Champion Title, becoming another proud representative of the FAREWELLHILL breeding program.

The FAREWELLHILL Family Today

The FAREWELLHILL family has continued to grow through carefully selected dogs and retained puppies.

Chevy, a beautiful girl from Dymatan, Morview, Landmaster and Ozzyheelers lines, joined the family and brought her own qualities and bloodlines to the kennel.

Tammy, a daughter of Moe and Joy, represents another generation of FAREWELLHILL breeding and is already following in her father’s footsteps in the show ring.

Today, Alison remains committed to the dogs she loves and to the thoughtful development of FAREWELLHILL Australian Cattle Dogs.
