Bloodlines & Heritage

At FAREWELLHILL, our breeding program is built upon carefully selected Australian Cattle Dog bloodlines that reflect the traditional qualities of this remarkable Australian breed.

We are drawn to true-to-type dogs with strong, balanced bodies, broad heads, standard height and sound conformation. Temperament is equally important, and the lines behind our dogs have been selected for their stable, dependable natures as well as their physical qualities.

Our pedigrees bring together established working and show lines, with ancestry extending through generations of respected Australian Cattle Dogs. These bloodlines connect our foundation dogs, including Maya, Lacey and Moe, to the FAREWELLHILL dogs we are breeding today and those who will shape our future.

Why Heritage Matters

A pedigree is more than a collection of names and titles. It provides a valuable record of the dogs and breeding decisions that have shaped each generation.

By studying the dogs behind our breeding stock, we can better understand the qualities that may be passed forward, including temperament, structure, movement, breed type and working ability.

This knowledge helps us plan thoughtful pairings that complement the strengths of each dog while maintaining genetic diversity and supporting the long-term health and integrity of the Australian Cattle Dog.

At FAREWELLHILL, respecting the breed’s heritage means learning from the generations that came before us while making careful decisions for those still to come.

The FAREWELLHILL Family Tree

The pedigrees below trace the ancestry of our current FAREWELLHILL dogs: Moe, Lacey, Maya, Skip, Joy, Chevy, Tammy & Lainey.

Together, they show how our present dogs connect with generations of Australian Cattle Dogs from established working and show lines. Some ancestors appear across several pedigrees, reflecting the relationships between our foundation dogs and and the generations bred here at FAREWELLHILL.

Registered names and recognised titles are shown throughout the charts, with call names appearing in quotation marks. Dogs owned by FAREWELLHILL are identified in italics, while kennel prefixes help visitors recognise the influential breeding programs represented within each pedigree.

Influential Dogs in Our Pedigrees

Many accomplished and influential Australian Cattle Dogs appear throughout our pedigrees. Two dogs of particular importance to FAREWELLHILL are found directly behind our foundation male, Moe.

Ch Melcathra Ace High — “Ace”

Moe’s sire, Ch Melcathra Ace High, is admired for his balanced, powerful body and strong, well-developed head.

These traditional qualities contributed to Alison’s decision to bring Moe into the FAREWELLHILL breeding program and continue this established line into future generations.

Beauvest He Sang Dixie — “Dixie”

Moe’s dam, Beauvest He Sang Dixie, is admired for her substantial build, beautiful conformation and strong Australian Cattle Dog type.

Through Moe, her qualities form an important part of the foundation of the current and future FAREWELLHILL generations.

Kennels Behind Our Lines

The kennel prefix attached to a registered dog’s name identifies the breeder responsible for that dog. When these prefixes appear throughout a pedigree, they help tell the story of the breeders and breeding programs that have contributed to the line over many generations.

The FAREWELLHILL pedigrees include dogs from a number of established Australian Cattle Dog kennels, including:

  • Beauvest
  • Landmaster
  • Melcathra
  • Bluverado
  • Pureheel
  • Cloverdowns

These pedigrees bring together traditional working and show lines, providing FAREWELLHILL with a strong foundation from which to plan future generations while preserving the breed characteristics Alison values.

Our Present and Future

Today, the FAREWELLHILL breeding program is represented by females bred under our own FAREWELLHILL prefix, together with females from the COOMERITH and DYMATAN lines. Our stud male carries the respected BEAUVEST line, along with PANGATTA and CAMPBLU bloodlines.

Each generation allows us to build upon the qualities established by our foundation dogs while continuing to assess temperament, health, structure, movement and overall Australian Cattle Dog type.

Looking to the future, we plan to retain selected FAREWELLHILL males and females to continue these lines. A Coomerith female also brings ancestry from Campblu, Doroblu, Jayblue and Cloverdowns, adding another carefully considered branch to our breeding program.

Our aim is not simply to reproduce the past, but to carry its strongest qualities forward through thoughtful pairings and responsible breeding decisions.
