About Maya

Maya is Lacey’s littermate and full sister. Both girls were bred by the late Judy Thomas of Beauvest Kennels in Seville, Victoria, and joined Alison together at eight weeks of age.

Established in 1972, Beauvest became well known for traditional Australian Cattle Dogs and the preservation of respected, old-established bloodlines with exceptional temperament. Alison is proud to have Beauvest heritage represented within the FAREWELLHILL breeding program.

Maya is a blue Australian Cattle Dog with a mask and, just as her registered name suggests, she is an absolute cutie.

Show Achievements

Maya has enjoyed success at Tasmanian championship shows conducted under Dogs Australia regulations.

Her achievements include:

  • Runner-Up Best Neuter in Group on two occasions

Maya’s sweet, agreeable temperament and confident nature make her a lovely representative of the breed both at home and when meeting new people.

Maya’s Personality

Maya is a genuine sweetheart with an exceptionally soft and loving personality.

Agreeable and affectionate, Maya is a true “velcro dog” who likes to remain close to Alison. Whether indoors or outside, she can usually be found walking directly in front of her.

Maya is confident when meeting new people and particularly loves playing fetch. Unlike the other dogs, who may drop the ball somewhere nearby, thoughtful Maya will pick it up and place it directly into an outstretched hand. She is also a keen swimmer and loves every opportunity to spend time in the water.

If the next throw takes too long, she may gently place a paw on Alison’s leg as a polite reminder to keep the game moving.

Maya as a Mother

Maya has raised three litters at FAREWELLHILL, her first litter of seven puppies, all boys, followed by a litter of ten and a final litter of three.

She was an excellent and devoted mother who was very protective of her puppies, feeding and caring for them exceptionally well. Maya loved playing with her puppies but, once they reached six weeks of age, she was also happy to give them the freedom to explore and develop their independence.

Maya has now been desexed and retired from breeding. She will remain at FAREWELLHILL for the rest of her life, continuing to enjoy her place as a deeply loved member of Alison’s family.
